Hubby and I took a nice walk together on the nature trail today - both of us clicking away with our cameras. We don't have a lot of alone time, and it was so nice with all the peace and quiet - something we rarely have together. We captured Spring and, also some beautiful remnants of fall. The deer stood so still that they seemed almost unreal. Truly, "This is a day that the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24.

Chocolate Dessert Recipe

Here it is at your request ;O)

1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups thawed Cool Whip
30 Chips Ahoy Cookies

Pour one cup of milk into a medium bowl. Add 1 pkg., 4 serving size Jello-O Instant Pudding and Pie Filling. Beat with wire wisk until well blended (2 min). Gently stir in Cool Whip. Spread about 2 tsp pudding mixture onto each cookie. Begin stacking cookies together, standing on edge on serving platter to make a log. Frost with remaining pudding mixture. Top with raspberries and chocolate disks (disks are made drizzling melted chocolate chips in a circular lacy pattern onto wax paper until cool. Once cooled, remove from wax paper and place atop cake). Refrigerate 4-5 hours before serving.

Use your imagination and experiment with other types of cookies and pudding flavors! Yummy!

Thought I'd try this chocolate, raspberry dessert recipe for dinner today. They say that you should never try a new recipe on guests, but it actually turned out to be one of those wonderful surprises - you know - the kind that makes you move the cool, refreshing, chocolaty goodness around on all of your taste buds before swallowing. So much to be thankful for - it would take me forever to list all of my blessings. Turkey is in the oven, potato salad is done - I'm in between desserts right now - strawberry pretzel salad and chocolate trifle. I took a minute and stepped out on the back deck - beautiful out here with a soft gray mist coming down to earth and softening everything, giving a dreamy feeling - smoke drifting lazily, to and fro from the neighbors chimney, fresh air on flushed cheeks from a morning of zealous cooking. I close my eyes briefly with arms folded across my chest, I take a deep breath and linger for just a moment before turning back to the kitchen. Family will be here before long - trifle ingredients are calling from the kitchen. God bless you all, and Happy Thanksgiving!

November Sky

When I awoke this morning and looked up at the stark, gray November sky, I made the decision that I would not let cold, lack of color take away my inner peace. On purpose, I began to enjoy the benefits of my decision. As I thought of ways to photograph the beauty of the oncoming winter, I felt myself wanting it to hurry up and snow, so I could capture all of the beautiful possibilites. With the cognitive shift, came creative thoughts of snow nestled in empty milkweed pods and on red berries that are still viable on the tree that stands near the trash receptacle outside my office, and delicate, weathered Queen Anne's Lace - on and on the thoughts came throughout the day, crowding out otherwise negative ones.

Whispers from the past bringing memories from when I was a little girl, when I could only look at these things and dream of having them. I would watch with concentrated interest as my older sister would slide the tiny lever on the side of her shiny, gold lipstick tube upward until the pretty, lipstick appeared at the top of the tube. She formed an "o" with her mouth and patted the dreamy color onto her lips and then rubbed and twisted them together until the lipstick was evenly spread across. As I watched, I became so caught up in the process that my mouth automatically formed an "o" as well. For beautiful curls, damp hair was wound around spoolie hair curlers and worn for hours. Then there were the catalogs with gorgeous dresses with can-can flared bottoms, nylon overlays of pink, blue and yellow, with rhinestone earrings clipped on. Evening in Paris was placed on a pinky finger and then elegantly dotted behind each ear -oh the glamour of it all.....

We are back from a wonderful vacation on Hatteras Island. I snapped the pic of the Surf Shop while we were over on Icracoke Island. Blackbeard the infamous pirate was supposed to have left his treasure there, but it was just to hot to look for it - maybe next time :O) You can click on the crab to get a better look at him having his dinner.
